Mid-Summer Classic lineup of events revealed.

Every year the baseball world gets to take a break from the grind and roll out the red carpet to celebrate the greatest players in the game.  MLB has released a list of events that are set to take place in “The Greater San Diego” area.

All-Star music line-up


Fall Out Boy, Rachel Platten, Empire of the Sun, Andra Day, Akon and more are joining Gwen Stefani, OneRepublic and Tori Kelly as performers during MLB All-Star Week in San Diego leading up to the 87th MLB All-Star Game presented by MasterCard at Petco Park on Tuesday, July 12th.

Fall Out Boy, Empire of the Sun, Akon and Michael Franti will perform as part of the Pepsi All-Star Music Series, which also includes the previously announced Budweiser All-Star Concerts with headliners Gwen Stefani, OneRepublic and Tori Kelly, plus special guests Eve, NEEDTOBREATHE and All Time Low, respectively. DJ Vice, DJ Irie and DJ Eric D-Lux will also be featured at public and private events around the city.

Additionally, Andra Day, Rachel Platten and The Tenors will be a part of the ceremonial All-Star activities at Petco Park. Day will sing the U.S. National Anthem before the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 10th. Platten will sing the U.S. National Anthem and The Tenors will perform the Canadian National Anthem before the MLB All-Star Game presented by MasterCard on Tuesday, July 12th. Coverage of the 87th Midsummer Classic begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Futures Game

The 18th edition of the Futures Game will take place on Sunday, July 10, at Petco Park in San Diego (7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on MLB Network). Rosters are full of the future stars that we hope to see in a big league uniform soon.  This is a glimpse at the future of MLB.


MLB Celebrity All-Star Softball game

The All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game is the second game of an exciting doubleheader at Petco Park.  The Softball Game will be televised by ESPN immediately following the Home Run Derby.


Homerun Derby

The 2016 T-Mobile Home Run Derby will air Monday, July 11, at 8 p.m. ET exclusively on ESPN from Petco Park – home of the San Diego Padres. The T-Mobile Home Run Derby will also be available on WatchESPN, ESPN Radio and ESPN Deportes. It is part of ESPN’s multi-platform coverage of MLB All-Star.

Eight commentators will combine for ESPN’s T-Mobile Home Run Derby coverage, led by a new main set on the field, featuring Sunday Night Baseball analysts Jessica Mendoza and Aaron Boone. The Sunday duo will join veteran Home Run Derby voice Chris Berman. Mendoza continues to break new sports media ground, as she will become the first female analyst for a Home Run Derby telecast.


The stage is set and now baseball fans can prepare to enjoy a celebration of greatness throughout the game of baseball.
