Middlesbrough agree deal to sign Alvaro Negredo

Middlesbrough, England – Middlesbrough have agreed a deal to sign striker Alvaro Negredo on a season-long loan from Valencia, the club confirm.

Negredo, 30, has spent the past two seasons at Valencia, scoring 18 goals in 76 appearances for the Spanish club.

Negredo had a short spell with Manchester City, scoring 23 goals in 48 appearances in 2013-14.

He has played 21 times for Spain and was part of their 2012 European Championship-winning squad.

The forward will be reunited with former Valencia team-mate Antonio Barragan, who has joined Boro on a three-year contract.

Boro was also pushing for Borussia Dotrmund defender Neven Subotic, but his medical spilled a rib injury that has ruled him out until 2017.

Boro’s boss Aitor Karanka has now acquired several La Liga players like Barragan and Victor Valdes.
