The Pirates and Rockies were postponed this afternoon.

A make-up date has yet to be announced.


Chris Bassitt (L) took the hill this afternoon for the A’s and went up against Anibal Sanchez (W) of the Tigers. Bassitt gave up seven runs on ten hits in three and two-thirds innings pitched. He managed to strikeout five, while walking three. Sanchez, of the Tigers, gave two runs on three hits in five and two-thirds innings. He struck out nine while walking seven.

The scoring started in the third where Josh Reddick singled to score Billy Burns, giving Oakland the early 1-0 lead.  The Tigers were quick to respond in the bottom of the inning.  The Tigers scored four runs with contributions from Ian Kinsler (Single), Miguel Cabrera (Single), Victor Martinez (Sac Fly), and Nick Castellanos (Double). It was then 4-1 Tigers headed into the 4th inning.

The A’s scored in the fourth on a Stephen Vogt solo home run, cutting the lead down to two.  The Tigers once agin wasted no time in coming back.  In the bottom of the fourth, Anthony Gose hit a two-run home run, increasing the lead to four runs.  Justin Upton also came through the same inning, he singled to give the Tigers a 7-2 lead.

Things stayed quiet until the top of the ninth inning where Khris Davis singled, scoring Billy Burns. That was all the A’s could come up with today, so the Tigers won the game by a final score of 7-3.


Jake Arrieta (W) took the mound for the first time since no hitting the Reds last Thursday. It was Taylor Jungmann for the Brewers (L). Arrieta pitched 5 innings, giving up three hits and one run, while managing to strikeout six while walking four.  Tyler gave up five runs on six hits in three and two-thirds innings pitched. He struck out two and walked three.

Ben Zobrist struck for the Cubs in the bottom of the first. He singled, scoring was Dexter Fowler and Kris Bryant to give the Cubs the early 2-0 lead. The Cubs also added to their lead when “Grandpa Rossy” (David Ross) hit a solo shot to left, extending the Cubs lead to three. Anthony Rizzo also got an RBI in the bottom of the fourth inning. LaStella doubled later that inning.

Alex Presley broke the shutout in the fifth inning by doubling, scoring Jonathan Villar.

The Cubs would get more runs from Dexter Fowler and Addison Russell, getting their tally up to seven. The Brewers scored in the ninth inning, but they were cold after that. The final score in Chicago this afternoon was 7-2 .
