MLB Recaps 5/10/16

Today’s MLB action includes games like the Detroit Tigers vs the Washington Nationals, the Chicago White Sox vs the Texas Rangers and the New York Mets vs the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Detroit Tigers at Washington Nationals

The Tigers tried end their dreadful losing streak of 7 in a row against the NL East leading Nationals.

Michael Fulmer and Joe Ross took the hill for their respective teams today in D.C.

Ryan Zimmerman went deep twice and Nick Castellanos hit one himself to stay red hot even though his team hasn’t been so good lately.

The Tigers took the lead in the 6th inning after putting up a 3 spot via a couple of clutch singles by James McCann and Miguel Cabrera to take the league 5-3.

Zimmerman hit his second dinger in the 7th, but that was all the help the Nationals got in the late innings.

The Detroit Tigers came out on top 5-4.

Chicago White Sox at Texas Rangers

Carlos Rodon took the hill for the Sox and Derek Holland did for the Rangers in this extremely long contest.

This game experienced an 84 minute rain delay in the middle of the 2nd inning, which caused the extremely late finish.

Another reason this game took a long time to finish was because of the scoring output.

In the 3rd, Bryan Holaday hit a 3 run dinger to tie up the game at 5 early on.

The Sox retaliated shortly after, getting 5 walks and a clutch double to clear the bases by Avisail Garcia in the top half of the 4th.

This game looked to be over in the 8th, but the Rangers put up 7 in the bottom half from a clutch 2 out rally.  A triple by Ian Desmond and a homer by Ryan Rua gave them the lead 13-11.

That would be the final score and the Rangers would win their first game of the year against the White Sox.

New York Mets at Los Angeles Dodgers

Jacob deGrom and Alex Wood were on the bump today in this rematch of the 2015 NLDS.

The scoring output was pretty minimal in this one, as 80% of the runs came in the first 3 half-innings.

Corey Seager hit an RBI double and Adrian Gonzalez hit a sac-fly and that was how the Dodgers opened up the game.

Michael Conforto reached on an error and Yoenis Cespedes scored, then Kevin Plawecki hit an RBI single to tie the game up at 2.

Trayce Thompson was the hero in this one, as he hit a walk-off home run with 2 outs to give the Dodgers the victory.
