MLB Recaps 5/15/16

This is a quick look at some of the best games from MLB on May 15th, 2016.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Chicago Cubs

This was a great pitching NL Central match-up, Gerrit Cole for the Pirates and Jon Lester for the Cubs.

Cole went 8 innings, only surrendering 3 hits and no runs to the best team in baseball.

Lester also did respectable, only allowing 2 runs off of a double and dinger by Jung-Ho Kang.

Anthony Rizzo hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 9th, but it wasn’t enough to get the W.

Pirates win 2-1.

Toronto Blue Jays at Texas Rangers

This rematch of the 2015 ALDS, Aaron Sanchez took the hill for the Jays and Cesar Ramos for the Rangers.

The Jays put up the first run off of Ramos with a single by Michael Saunders.

Two doubles by Ian Desmond and Bryan Holaday gave the Rangers the lead.

Jose Bautista hit a bases-clearing double in the top half of the 6th and Kevin Pillar grounded out to score one more to extend their lead to three.

Adrian Beltre hit a solo dinger in the bottom of the 6th to make the game 5-3.

After the Blue Jays added one more of a sac fly, Ryan Rua for the Rangers grounded into a double play and Ian Desmond hit a two-out, three-run home run to give the Rangers the lead 7-6.

In the top of the 8th, Jose Bautista was hit by a pitch and he wound up sliding into second, messing up the throw for Rougned Odor.

Odor then decided to give Bautista a nasty right hook and the benches cleared, which you can check out right here.

The Rangers would hang on to their lead and win the game 7-6.

St. Louis Cardinals at Los Angeles Dodgers

Mike Leake for the 19-18 Cardinals took on Alex Wood for the 20-17 Dodgers.

Corey Seager provided the only offense for the Dodgers, via his two solo home runs.

The Cardinals got help from Matt Carpenter and his home run, along with Yadier Molina and his two-run double.

Stephen Piscotty and Aledmys Diaz also drove in runs to bring the Cardinals total up to five.

Alex Wood did pitch a little better than Mike Leake, but he got the no decision as the Cardinals win 5-2.
