Cowboys Must Play Fast And Aggressive To Slow Bengals

The Dallas Cowboys will host their third home game of the season week five as the physical and aggressive Cincinnati Bengals pay a visit to Dallas to take on the 3-1 Cowboys.

The Bengals seem to always carry urgency with them as they are an extremely aggressive team. Their defense can be suffocating and vicious to opposing offenses. They will get a shot to play against two rookies in Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott this Sunday in Dallas. For the Cowboys to have a chance at winning this game, they must match the energy, passion, and play very aggressive against the Bengals.

Noting that the Bengals are a known physical team could be intimidating for an opposing offense and especially rookies. However, Prescott and Elliott are no strangers to aggressive, physical, and punishing opponents. Prescott played in College Football’s most prolific conference in the SEC. Elliott played in a tough conference as well in the Big 10.

The Cowboys are going to have to game plan to start quick and get Prescott comfortable against a very talented defense. Establishing rhythm with his receivers and an effective running game should help propel him to another solid game. Jason Witten should be the key read for Prescott early in this match up. He’s the big bodied weapon Prescott needs to get the ball to and move the chains with.

The Cowboys ran the ball 39 times last week against the 49ers. They should continue that physical and aggressive play through the running game against the Bengals this week. Elliott seems to be grasping onto his role in this Cowboys offense and he’s excelling. Elliott is leading the NFL in rushing and if the Cowboys continue winning, Elliott’s rushing success will continue as well.

The Bengals will be the strongest team Dallas has faced this year. They excel in all phases of the game, especially with their offensive ability to stretch the field with AJ Green. He’s a guy who can burn you deep or make plays over the middle. The Cowboys defense must play physical and be aggressive off the line of scrimmage as soon as the ball is snapped.

Andy Dalton and AJ Green have established quite the connection with one another. The Cowboys secondary must watch the deep ball as Green has made a living speeding past defensive backs to unleash his highlight real ability to find the ball. Once again, if they can rough him up at the line or interrupt his route timing at all, that will go a long way in determining the outcome of this game. The defense simply has to contain Green and not allow the back breaking big plays.

If the Cowboys can play aggressive and with urgency, they can find themselves with a 4-1 record to start the season. This will be the Cowboys’ toughest test yet. The Bengals play the Cowboys Sunday, October 9th, at 4:25 ET.
