Kings: 5  Blackhawks: 0

The Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks, two of the top teams in the Western Conference, faced off Monday night at the United Center in Chicago. The Kings came out on top, defeating the Blackhawks 5-0. Kris Versteeg, Milan Lucic, Vincent Lecaveir, Dustin Brown, and Tyler Toffoli all scored for the Kings. LA goaltender Jonathan Quick could not be beat by the Blackhawks, saving all 32 of the hawks shots.

Early in the first, Versteeg fired it past Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford. The former Blackhawks forward got the puck off of a slapshot by defenseman Luke Schenn, and then would fire the puck past Crawford to gibe the Kings a 1-0 lead.  Just 18 seconds later, the Kings would strike again. Milan Lucic skated the puck into the zone after receiving a pass form Versteeg, and then fired it past Crawford to make it 2-0.

Late in the second period, Lecavalier would push the Kings lead to 3-0. After the puck bounced right to Lecavalier would have a wide open net after Crawford was taken out of the play. The Blackhawks would challenge the play, looking for goaltender interference, but none would be found by the referees, resulting in the call of good goal standing.

Midway through the third, Dustin Brown would officially put the game away, making it 4-0. Brown came into the zone with just defenseman Duncan Kieth there to defend him. Brown would beat Keith and then put the puck past Crawford with a backhand shot. Tyler Toffoli scored with just 4 minutes remaining in the game, making it 5-0.

Despite out shooting the Kings, the Hawks could not get the puck past Quick. The Blackhawks struggles continue, after losing to the Dallas Stars on Friday night 4-2, and the St. Louis Blues 3-2 on Wednesday. Their power play has been a big concern as of late, after having one of the top units in the league this year, the team is now just 1 for 15 in their last three games.
