Paco Alcacer has joined Barcelona from Valencia

Barcelona, Spain – Barcelona and Valencia have come to terms on transfer deal for forward Paco Alcacer who has signed a five-year contract with the Catalan club, Barcelona has confirmed.

The Cules will pay Valencia 30 million plus 2 million in variables for the 23 year old player.

The Spain international will join team practices on Monday after having joined up with the squad on Monday.

Alcacer told Valencia’s official website: “When I found out about the offer from FC Barcelona I asked the club to listen to it, as it was my decision to take a step forward in my career.”

He added: “I want to thank Valencia CF and the fans. Despite the fact that I am leaving Valencia CF, I will always be a Valencianista at heart.”

He becomes the club’s sixth signing of a busy transfer window, following the arrivals of Jasper Cillessen, Andre Gomes, Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne and Denis Suarez.

Alcacer is a product of the Valencia youth system and has made over 100 appearances for Los Che, scoring 43 goals.

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique had been keen of a fourth forward, although Arda Turan has done an exceptional job with Neymar Jr. out, they want that quality attacker that can jump off the bench with killer-instinct in-front of goal.

Other forwards like Luciano Vietto, Kevin Gameiro and Nolito were among the players linked with a move to Camp Nou, but most had already made moves to other clubs and were not keen to juicing up bench time.
