Paul Clement has been confirmed as Swansea City’s new head coach

Swansea, Wales – Paul Clement has been appointed as new head coach by Swansea City on a two-and-a-half-year contract, the club has confirmed.

The 44-year-old has left his role as assistant to Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern Munich to take over at the Liberty Stadium. The former Derby County manager will be in the stands at Selhurst Park on Tuesday evening for the league match against fellow strugglers Crystal Palace.

He is set to be Swansea’s third manager of the season after the club decided to sack Bob Bradley.

Bayern said on Tuesday they had appointed a new assistant to Ancelotti, with chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge saying: “We wanted to give Paul the chance to manage in the Premier League, not stop him. We wish him all the best.”

Former Manchester United assistant Ryan Giggs, Wales boss Chris Coleman and former Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett were also linked with the job.

The Swans are four points adrift at the bottom of the table and have lost their last four games, including Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat by Bournemouth.
