After winning game 1 in Pittsburgh 3-2, the Pittsburgh Penguins looked to take even more advantage of their home ice advantage as they took on the San Jose Sharks in game to at home. The Penguins, after blowing their 1 goal lead with just 3 minutes left in the game, were able to pull off the win in overtime to take a 2-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Final. The Penguins recieved a goal from Phil Kessel in the second, and then Conor Sheary found the back of the net in overtime to win the game. Goaltender Matt Murray stopped 21 of 22 shots in the victory. The Sharks watched Justin Braun tie the game late in the third, but they couldn’t find the offense in overtime. Martian Jones stoped 28 of the 30 shots against him in the loss.

The Penguins would break the scoreless tie with a goal by Kessel midway through the second. After forcing a turnover, Penguins forward Carl Hagelin passed the puck to Nick Bonino, who pulled Jones out of the net before passing the puck to Kessel for an easy tap in goal.

But late in the third, the Sharks would tie the game up. Sharks center Logan Couture found the puck behind the net and passed it along the boards to Braun, who fired a wrist shot from the blue line and past Murray to tie the game and force overtime.

But early in the overtime period, the Penguins would end it. After a faceoff win by Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang, who recieved the puck off the faceoff, decided to pass the puck to Sheary instead of firing a slap shot. Sheary, who was at the top of the left faceoff circle, shot a rocket over the glove of Murray and into the back of the net, ending the game and giving the Penguins a over time victory.

Game 3 of the Stanley Cup final between the Penguins and Sharks will be on Friday night at 6:00 P.M. E.T in San Jose.
