NEW YORK-The New York Rangers aimed to even the Eastern Conference First Round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 on Thursday at Madison Square Garden.

Evgeni Malkin returned to the Pens’ lineup on Saturday after missing more than a month with a shoulder injury.

The Pens got on the board early, as Eric Fehr scored his first playoff goal 1:09 into the first period. Fehr crashed the net on the Pens’ rush and buried a rebound past Henrik Lundqvist.

Sidney Crosby set up for a nice reflection that deflected off Patric Hornqvist and past Lundqvist for a power-play goal to make it 2-0 Pens at 7:11.

Conor Sheary stole the puck in the defensive zone, raced down the ice and sniped an unassisted goal past Lundqvist with3:48 left in the first.

The Pens led 3-0 after 20 minutes.

Malkin added two more goals.

Just four minutes into the second period, Malkin glided into a pass from Crosby and blasted the puck past Lundqvist for a power play goal.

Then, he netted a second goal 3:28 into the third period. Brian Dumoulin threaded the puck to Malkin, who tapped it past Antti Raanta for another power goal.

The Pens shutout the Rangers 5-0 in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden.

Matt Murray played in his second NHL playoff game and made 31 saves for Pittsburgh.

Lundqvist allowed four goals on 14 shots and was pulled in the second period after playing 26:04. Raanta replaced him and made 16 saves for New York.

Murray was neutral in Thursday’s 5-0 shutout victory in Game 4.

“A win is a win and it feels good, but at the same time, at this point of the season, it really doesn’t matter until you get the fourth one,” Penguins rookie goaltender Matt Murray told staff writer David Satriano. “I’m nervous before every game. Obviously these last two, more so than usual, but I thought I did a good job of controlling that.”
