Pennsylvania 400 At Pocono Raceway Preview

This weekend, NASCAR’s finest head to Pocono Raceway for the Pennsylvania 400. This is the 21st race of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. In last year’s race, Matt Kenseth collected his second win of the season by beating Brad Keselowski.

Previously At Pocono: After the race was postponed to Monday due to rain, Kurt Busch took the lead from Dale Earnhardt Jr. with 32 laps to go and never looked back as he clinched his spot in the 2016 Chase For The Sprint Cup by winning the Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400.

Weather Or Not: As with most Pocono races held this time of the year, rain seems to be plaguing the forecast. A 60% chance of rain is predicted for both Sunday and Monday (In case of makeup) as of post time.

Chasing The Chase: Chase Elliott seemed to have a Chase spot and his first career in hand when he led the most laps in June. But, he faded away in the last 30 laps to only a 4th place finish. Despite cooling off in the last month, Chase is still ranked the highest in the top 16 without a win, and he’s hungry for one. Can he complete the deal this weekend and add on to an already sensational rookie season?

Gordon’s Last Hurrah?: Jeff Gordon returns behind the wheel of the No. 88 Chevrolet in place of Dale Earnhardt Jr. for at least one more race this weekend at the Pennsylvania 400. Gordon finished a solid 13th in his return to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series action at Indianapolis last weekend. He hasn’t been confirmed for any more races as Dale Jr’s recovery time remains an unknown.

Kyle’s Tricky Triangle Problem: Pocono is only one of two tracks Kyle Busch has never won on (The other is Charlotte). After his historic weekend at Indy, Kyle is looking to finally solve his issues to Pocono once and for all.

Below is some NASCAR Fantasy advice for the Pennsylvania 400 and the drivers to consider and to avoid:

Drivers To Consider: Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch, Kyle Larson, Jamie McMurray, and Denny Hamlin

Drivers To Avoid: Brian Scott, Trevor Bayne, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, and Jimmie Johnson

Potential Sleepers: Jeff Gordon, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Clint Bowyer, and Greg Biffle

The Pennsylvania 400 At Pocono Raceway starts Sunday at 1:30PM on NBCSN.
