Peyton Manning Named Starter For Playoffs

Denver, CO – The Denver Broncos have named veteran Peyton Manning as their starting quarterback in the divisional-round game on Jan. 17.

Head Coach Gary Kubiack met with Manning and Brock Osweiler prior to announcing the decision to the team at its Thursday morning meeting.

The Broncos had been without Manning until he replaced Osweiler in the third quarter of last Sunday’s match against the San Diego Chargers. Manning had been out of action since Nov. 15 when he exit the game due to a torn plantar fascia.

Manning took the reigns of the team and drove them 80 yards to a touchdown on his first drive back, and let the Broncos to a 27-20 win that clinched the AFC West title and the top seed in the AFC playoffs.

The Broncos will face the lowest remaining AFC seed: Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs or Pittsburgh Steelers.
