Real Madrid “in talks” to snap up Monchi the transfer guru behind Dani Alves and Rakitic signings

Madrid, Spain – Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has started negotiations to snap up Sevilla’s sporting director, Monchi, per Sport.

According to the Catalan newspaper is in talks over a deal to take a similar role with Los Vikingos. Furthermore, this would be the first time Perez works with a sporting director.

At the same time, Monchi was set to move to Italian side Roma at the end of the season. However, Madrid’s intervention may persuade the former goalkeeper to stay in Spain.

In the meantime, with Luis Enrique departing Barcelona at season’s end, Roma would welcome the partnership at the Eternal City.

The figure of Monchi has always created a lot of interest in the market due to the success he’s had with Sevilla. Various clubs have tried to lure him away in the past. In fact, last season, Monchi was close to signing for Everton, but Sevilla demanded five million euros and the operation did not go through.

A couple of years ago, Barcelona also listed Monchi as a possible replacement to Andoni Zubizarreta whom the club fired.

If Perez gives Monchi a heavy say on the club’s transfer moves, he will likely agree to terms with the club.

Some of Monchi successful transfers have been Dani Alves, Ivan Rakitic and Carlos Bacca.
