UPDATE: Canadians head coach Michel Therrian said the team and Price are working very hard to get him back before the end of the season. Therrian said he is confident that fans will see Price back on the ice before the regular season ends. When asked if there was any truth to the report, Therrian said that there will always be speculation, but didn’t say it was untrue.

Montreal Canadians goaltender Carey Price could miss the rest of the season, according to a French Sports Outlet, La Presse. The report says that the Canadians do not beleive he will be able to return at any point in the regular season, and that his best chance would be to return at some point during the playoffs, if the team makes it there. According to the report, the team will not confirm anything on his status, saying they want to keep hope alive. The Canadians will not say whether Price will be able to return this season, as they do not want their fans to give up hope on the season, as they are only 3 points out of a playoff spot.

Price has been out since November with a MCL injury to his right knee. The team hoped by just rehabbing and not receiving surgery on his knee that he could return and help the team make the playoffs. That has not been the case as Price’s timetable to return keeps growing larger and larger and the team has now fallen out of a playoff spot.

The reigning MVP started off the season very well, posting a 10-2 record with a 2.06 goals against average in the 12 games he has played this season. Things were going well for the 29 year old goalie, who looked to be on his way to another MVP caliber season before the injury.
