French midfielder Samir Nasri joins Sevilla from Manchester City

Seville, Spain – Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has joined Sevilla on a season-loan, both clubs have announced the deal.

The 29-year-old has been at Etihad Stadium since 2011 but has been told he is surplus to requirements by new manager Pep Guardiola.

Nasri had been a target for Turkish club Besiktas, but that deal did not come through as it was previously announced.

The French international was formed in the youth ranks of Olympicque de Marsella of Ligue 1. He then made the jump to Premier League side Arsenal in 2008 and in 2012 left for Manchester City where he has won two leagues, one League Cup and one Community Shield.

Director of football Monchi says Nasri’s loan move will be Sevilla’s final piece of transfer activity this summer.

“We are finalising the transfer of Nasri,” Monchi said at the Press conference to present another new loan signing, goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.

“We are negotiating with the player and City and trying to close the deal.

“If we get Nasri, we will have got the player we have been looking for from the start. If we get him in the end, we would have the piece of the jigsaw that the boss [Sampaoli] asked for.

“I don’t think that there will be anymore movement.”
