Schilling Fired From ESPN

Curt Schilling was fired this afternoon from his MLB broadcasting position at ESPN because of offensive and insensitive material on a Facebook post he commented on this morning.

The post/meme stated – “Let him in! (To the restroom with your daughter or else you’re a narrow minded, judgmental, unloving, racist bigot who needs to die!)”

6 months ago Schilling also tweeted out a meme relating the Muslim race to 1930’s Nazis.

ESPN said in a statement today announcing in his permanent expulsion, “ESPN is an inclusive company. Curt Schilling has been advised that his conduct was unacceptable and his employment with ESPN has been terminated…”

In a blog post, Schilling responded to his firing – “You frauds out there ranting and screaming about my ‘opinions’…. and are screaming for “tolerance” and “acceptance” while you refuse to do and be either.  YOU’RE the ones making it the issue….There are things I have deeply held beliefs in, things I have that are core to who I am, things I am passionate about…I am not going to give you answers to make sure you like what I say, let the rest of the insecure world do that.”

Schilling is well-known for his bloody red sock he had in the 2004 playoffs.  He led the Red Sox to their first World Series crown since 1918.

Schilling had been an ESPN employee since 2011, and regularly was an analyst for the Little League World Series.
