Defender Sergio Ramos will be out for a month with a knee injury

Madrid, Spain – Real Madrid and Spain defender Sergio Ramos suffered a knee ligament sprain during Spain’s World Cup qualifying win over Albania on Sunday and will be out for a month, the club has confirmed.

“After tests carried out today on our player Sergio Ramos at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral knee ligament in the left knee. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

The international break has provided a mixed bag for Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane with Ramos joining midfielders Luka Modric and Casemiro on the sidelines at precisely the moment Zidane needs all of his key players in one piece.

Ramos will likely miss four La Liga matches, including a clash with town rivals Atletico Madrid. He would also miss both Champions League group stage matches against Legia Warsaw and be a doubt for Spain’s World Cup qualifier against Macedonia on Saturday November 12.

His plans are to return for a crucial game against Barcelona in December at Camp Nou.
