German Shkodran Mustafi is set to join Arsenal from Valencia

London, United Kingdom – Sky Sports Mar Behrenbeck reports that a deal between Valencia and Arsenal has been made for Shkodran Mustafi, with the German being given a five-year deal and his transfer worth 41 million euros.

Valencia manager Pako Ayestaran has admitted that Mustafi is leaving Valencia after overlooking the defender for Saturday’s trip to Eibar in La Liga.

“We’ll play a team that show character. You have to face situations as they are, but I’m convinced that whoever plays [instead of Mustafi] at Eibar will have a good game,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“A few weeks ago, [Arsenal’s] offer wasn’t good enough, but now other circumstances exist because their offer is [good enough] and, from there, we believe that we have a suitable replacement [lined up]. It’s simple. I’m sure [the club] will deliver make signings.

Arsenal had been chasing Mustafi for several weeks but had been reluctant to meet Valencia’s asking price.

The 24-year-old started his professional career at Everton before moving to Sampdoria and then Valencia. He has 12 caps for his national side and scored in their 2-0 win over Ukraine at Euro 2016.

“I think he’s a good signing but time will tell,” Arsene Wenger said. “He had two years at Everton, he went to Italy, then Spain. But, you know, 19 is a difficult age to play center-half in the Premier League. He was Valencia’s captain last season and, if we get it done, we’ll have achieved what we wanted [this window].
