Swansea City complete the signing of Fernando Llorente

Swansea, Wales – Swansea City have agreed to signing veteran striker Fernando Llorente from Sevilla pending medical to be done Friday, International Business Times UK confirms.

The 31-year-old has two years left on his contract with the La Liga side, and is expected to have a medical with the Welsh club on Friday.

“It has come a long way with Swansea to reach an agreement,” said Sevilla sporting director Monchi.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins expects to announce at least one new signing in the “next few days”.

Swansea had earmarked the signing of at least two number nines as a priority for the current transfer window following the departures of Portugal international Eder, Alberto Paloschi and Bafetimbi Gomis.

Due to the impressive camping displayed by Kevin Gameiro, Llorente was restricted to a secondary role, scoring seven goals in 36 appearances with the Andalucian club.

Real Sociedad, Sporting Lisbon and an unnamed Bundesliga club have tried to secure his services during the current transfer window but he has opted to move to Swansea instead to experience the Premier League, having already been in talks with Everton last summer but opting instead to move to Sevilla.
