Tennessee Titans Add Veteran Dennis Kelly & Other Musings

The Titans of Tennessee started off the 2016 NFL preseason beating a lackluster Chargers team behind 288 yards on the ground.

Week Two won’t be nearly as easy of a task, the defending NFC champions Carolina Panthers head into Nashville coming off a three point loss to the Ravens.

It appears the Titans will be a run heavy offense in week two and the entirety of the season. The off season and week one of the pre-season showed us that clearly.

During the off-season, the Titans signed former Cowboys and Eagles running back DeMarco Murray. They drafted Heisman winner running back Derrick Henry out of Alabama and offensive tackle Jack Conklin from Michigan State.

Most recently adding depth to the line by trading second year receiver Dorial Green-Beckham to the Philadelphia Eagles for fourth year reserved G/T Dennis Kelly.

Dennis Kelly is going into his fourth season in the NFL, where he has started only 15 games. Kelly was a 5th round pick out of Purdue in 2012. Kelly is expected to be a strong reserve player on the extremely young right side of the line.

This is only the 6th time the Titans and Panthers will meet up in history. The Titans lead the series 3-2. The Panthers have the latest win in the series. Pulling off the big win in week 10 of last season (27-10), that game was just another victory added on their NFC-leading record.

Week two of the NFL preseason is set to kick off at 2 p.m. CDT in Nashville at Nissan Stadium.

Tennessee finishes off the preseason with the Oakland Raiders in a nationally televised game August 27th, and then against the Miami Dolphins on  September 1st.

The regular season starts on September 11th, as Teddy Bridgewater and the Vikings of Minnesota take on the Titans.
