With another MLB All-Star futures game complete, we take a look back at last nights game.

Going into last night’s game the World team had lost six straight futures games, but this year is where the streak ends. Boston Red Sox prospect Yoan Moncada crushed a two-run home run in the 8th inning which sparked the 9 run comeback win for the World.

Yoan Moncada’s performance went further than just the two-run homer in the 8th.  The switch hitter finished 2-for-5 with a stolen base and his performance earned him the Larry Doby Award as the All-Star futures 2016 MVP. Other notable performances were turned in by Houston Astros prospect Alex Bregman, Bregman had three-quarters of a cycle missing only the home run.

Some other highlights from the game include three stellar defensive plays in the field coming from Colorado Rockies prospect David Dahl, San Diego Padres prospect Manuel Margot and Chicago Cubs prospect Eloy Jimenez.

Colorado’s David Dahl threw out Josh Naylor at the plate to keep the World down a run in the sixth inning. Then in the bottom of the sixth World’s centerfielder Manuel Margot robbed USA’s catcher Carson Kelly of a home run. However the play of the game most likely occurred in the eight inning as Chicago Cubs outfielder Eloy Jimenez, Jimenez chased a ball into foul territory and leaped over the wall to make a spectacular catch.

In the end it was team World’s late offensive explosion that allowed them to snap their 6 game losing streak, pulling out a 11-3 win.

We can expect to see many of these players in a major league uniform very soon.
