Toyota Owners 400 At Richmond International Raceway Preview

This weekend, NASCAR’s finest head to Richmond International Raceway for the Toyota Owners 400. This is the 9th race of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. In last year’s running, Kurt Busch outlasted teammate Kevin Harvick to win after the race was delayed a day by rain.

Night Turns Into Day: After 17 years being scheduled as a Saturday night race, this race moves back into the Sunday afternoon slot. During this time frame, only part of the 2002 and the entire 2007/2015 races were ran on Sunday afternoon due to rain delays. The weather promises to be great in Richmond’s return to daytime racing this weekend.

JGR In Control: Joe Gibbs Racing has continued it’s strong late 2015 form into this season. With all their drivers except Matt Kenseth with a win and in the Chase, the team is now a dark force to be beaten. That trend should continue this weekend as this is one of Kyle Busch’s strongest tracks.

Can Chase Win His Way Into The Chase?: With a Forth last weekend at Bristol, Chase Elliott is silencing any remaining critics as to if he will fulfill the 24’s legacy under a new era. It looks like a win for the “Kid from Dawsonville” may be coming soon, and Richmond could be it. After all, he won in the fall of 2014 when he was an XFINITY Series rookie.

Underdog’s Tale: Let’s give it up to Matt DiBenedetto for his performance at Bristol, coming home sixth, a career-best effort for this young driver.“I’m sorry I’m so emotional,” he said in a interview this week after his surprising top 10. “It’s just this is like a win for us. I’m so excited. I see my family back here—my wife, Taylor, my brother is in town from the military and I’m so glad he got to experience this. This is just…this is incredible. I’m so blessed to be here.”

Below is some NASCAR Fantasy advice for the Toyota Owners 400 and the drivers to consider and to avoid:
