Rockies rookie SS Trevor Story was named NL Player of the Week for the week ending July 24th.  Story made his Major League début on April 4, 2016 and came out blazing.  He would set a rookie record by hitting home runs in each of his first four games, and tied the MLB rookie record for home runs in the month of April.

Story barely beat out Cardinal’s SS Jedd Gyorko, who had a three homer game against his former team the San Diego Padres earlier this week.

In just seven games, Story knocked six home runs and thirty total bases, while batting in 12 RBI. He also went 11-23 (.478) and had a 1.304 slugging percentage.

Story is having one of the best seasons for a rookie SS in league history.  He is batting .275, 69 RBI, and 27 home runs. He is now just three home runs shy of Nomar Garciaparra’s rookie SS single season home run record of 30.

To say Story has a promising career ahead of him may be an understatement. Congrats Trevor Story on your NL Player of the Week!
