Truex, Furniture Row Announce Sponsorship Extension

Martin Truex Jr dominated this year’s Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May in record-breaking fashion with his Bass Pro Shops/ Tracker Boats Toyota. Apparently, Bass Pro was impressed, because his Furniture Row Racing car will have a few extra chances to show off their bright orange colors next season.

Truex and Furniture Row announced on Thursday that the team has signed Martin to a 2 year extension and that Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Boats will up their primary sponsorship from 12 races to 16 in 2017.

“I am pleased that we’re going to continue our momentum from this season.”, Truex said. “This is where I want to be, driving the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota. We’ve come a long way in a short period of time. There are many reasons to feel excited and optimistic about the future of our racing program starting with the commitment from our team owner Barney Visser, the support from Toyota, the technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing and the Bass Pro Shops sponsorship.”

Since Martin took the wheel of the number 78, he has helped turn the team into a model of consistency. Truex has won a race with Furniture Row Racing each of the past 2 seasons. In 2015, the team made the Championship round of the chase, going into Homestead with a shot to win the title. Even finishing 4th in the final standings was 6 places better than the organization’s previous best.

Truex also has a long standing relationship with Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris. The two are friends and fishing buddies. Additionally, Bass Pro sponsored Truex during his back to back Xfinity championship seasons in 2004 and 2005, as well as his first 2 years in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Prior to Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen, Truex has 3 top fives, 9 top tens and 3 poles in addition to his victory at Charlotte.
