United Without Striker For Chelsea Trip

United will be without a striker for trip to Stamford Bridge

London, England – Manchester United will be without any senior striker for their quarter final clash with league leaders Chelsea tomorrow. The Red Devils are without club legend Wayne Rooney and youngster Antony Martial due to injury. Marcus Rashford will miss the game through illness, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic misses out through suspension.

This leaves Manchester United without a recognized senior striker for the trip to Stamford Bridge. There are a number of players who could play the role. Marouane Fellaini is the favorite to get the nod to start up top. The Belgian played up front on occasion during the Louis Van Gaal era and is familiar with the position. His aerial prowess could cause the Chelsea defensive problems and he may be the most logical choice to play up front. Jesse Lingard is another player who could get the nod. Lingard’s eye for goal and quality on the ball could prove a challenge for the Chelsea back three and may lead to the Englishman being the player to start up top for the Red Devils.

The fact that United will play without a striker tomorrow may actually spur them on. Strange things happen when a Manchester United team has their backs against the wall as the Red Devils have proven over the years. But could the news of United’s strikers being injured just be another bit of Jose Mourinho’s master mind games?
