Valencia has official signed Munir El Haddadi on loan from Barcelona

Valencia, Spain – Valencia have signed Barcelona’s Munir El Haddadi on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign for 12 million euros, Valencia and Barcelona announced.

The 20-year-old move to Mestalla comes just minutes after Barcelona confirmed that Spain forward Paco Alcacer would head in the other direction for an initial fee of 30 million euros. Barcelona have retained the first option on Munir if he’s sold on again in the future.

“Valencia CF are pleased to welcome Spanish international striker Munir El Haddadi to the club, after a loan agreement for the player was reached today with FC Barcelona. The loan deal runs until June 30th, 2017, with an option to buy at the end of the season. Munir will wear the number 9 shirt.”

The Barça youth protegee rejected other top flight bids to move to the Mediterranean coast as he sought an opportunity of playing time with Alcacer in Barcelona.

He has formed part of Luis Enrique’s first team squad ever since, making 45 appearances and scoring 10 goals in all competitions.

Munir becomes the third player to leave Camp Nou on loan in a week following the departures of Sergi Samper and Douglas to Granada and Sporting Gijon respectively.

For Valencia, there are talks that Munir would not be the only new arrival with Ezequiel Garay being strongly linked with a move to the club from Russian side Zenit.
