Valencia has sacked manager Pako Ayestaran after bad results in La Liga

Valencia, Spain – La Liga side Valencia has decided to release Pako Ayestaran from his duties as first team manager, the club announced in a statement.

“Following a meeting of the Board of Directors, Valencia Club de Fútbol have taken the decision to release Pako Ayestarán from his role as first team coach. The decision has been made after analyzing the current sporting situation and results.

While the Club is finalizing the appointment of a new coach, full responsibility and confidence is placed in Salvador González –‘Voro’- to take charge of the first team during this interim period.”

Ayestaran took over first-team affairs at Mestalla after Gary Neville’s similarly ill-fated reign ended in March and he signed a deal running until June 2018 two months later.

The Spanish club are now in search of their ninth manager since the start of the 2012-13 season.

Former Valencia star Mario Alberto Kempes said earlier this week that he would be available to coach the club.

In Ayestaran’s place, Salvador Gonzalez, “Voro” will take charge of the first team during this interim period.
