Varejao Back to Golden State on a One Year Deal

The Golden State Warriors and Anderson Varejao have agreed to terms to bring the veteran big man back on what is believed to be a 1 year deal, via @amicohoops on Twitter.

Anderson started the 2015-2016 NBA campaign on his longtime team the Cleveland Cavaliers, but was traded mid-season to the Portland Trail Blazers and then signed on waivers by the Warriors. Despite not playing much, Varejao was able to impact the game for the Warriors throughout their NBA Finals run.

Golden State, who lost key big men Festus Ezeli, Marreese Speights, and Andrew Bogut this offseason, are lacking big bodies and will really need Varejao’s energy and presence down low, off the bench.

Anderson has played 13 seasons in the NBA, totaling averages of 7.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and just shy of 1 block and 1 steal per game while shooting 51% from the floor. He’s been to the NBA finals 3 times and has not come away with a ring yet, so he’s gotta be hungry to help this team reach that milestone once again.

At 33, the Warriors hope the big fella has enough gas left in his tank to give them positive play when called on for at least 1 more season.

The Warriors have also signed veteran big’s  Zaza Pachulia and David West to help fill the viod, but can they give the Warriors the rim protection and rebounding that was key to their record setting year last season? It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.
