Washington Redskins Week 11 Review: Skins Avenge Playoff loss against Pack

Fat Rob

“Fat Rob” Robert Kelley, Kirk Cousins, and the rest of the Washington Redskins flex their muscle in prime time as they hand the Packers their fourth straight loss.

The third time for a 100-yard game was the charm for “Fat Rob” last night. The undrafted product out of Tulane earned his first 100-yard game as a pro. After posting rushing outputs of 87 and 97 yards in his first two starts respectively, Robert Kelley powered the Redskins with 24 carries, 137 yards and three touchdowns.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins had his best game of the season despite the windy conditions at Fed Ex Field. The Redskins were 0-3-1 when Cousins passed for over 300 yards before Sunday night. The fourth-year pro had his best statistical output of the season, going 21/30, 375  yards, three touchdowns and 145.8 quarterback rating.

Pierre Garcon was the star of the receiving core Sunday night. Garcon caught a 70-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins. Garcon was targeted seven times and posted six catches for 110 yards. Jamison Crowder also had a 100-yard game. Cousins targeted Crowder only three times, but Crowder made the most of those opportunities finishing with three catches, 102 yards, and a touchdown.

In his second season, Jamison Crowder has emerged into the dynamic playmaker the Redskins had envisioned him to be when he was drafted in the fourth-round. Crowder is the leading punt returner in the NFL and the leading receiver for the Washington Redskins. Crowder leads Washington with 47 catches, 637 yards, and six touchdowns.

The Redskins were 9/14 on third down and gained 515 total yards of offense. The 42 points was the most Washington has scored all season. Scoring in the red zone wasn’t an issue as the Redskins were 4/5 on red zone attempts. The offensive line continues to play at a high level. Green Bay came into the game with the fourth-best rushing defense in the NFL allowing 86.4 yards per game, however Washington racked up 151 rushing yards.

Game Balls

  • Pierre Garcon had his first 100-yard game since the 2014 season. Garcon continues to be one of the more consistent players on the Redskins offense, as he’s yet to drop a pass this season. His 70-yard touchdown reception from Kirk Cousins was the longest play of the game.

  • “Fat Rob” has been a revelation for the Washington Redskins. So much in fact, that Robert Kelley earned his first 100-yard game since high school. In my game preview, I predicted Kelley would have a breakout performance. It’s safe to say, “Fat Rob” didn’t disappoint.

  • The stats for Josh Norman may not be elite, but Norman is playing at an elite level. Despite being the most penalized player in the NFL, Norman makes up for it with his tenacity. He’s an all around football player. His forced fumble late in the fourth quarter set up “Fat Rob’s” final touchdown.

Next up for the Washington Redskins, a Thanksgiving showdown with the Dallas Cowboys. Kickoff is set for 4:15 p.m.
