Yankees trade outfielder Carlos Beltran to Texas Rangers

New York Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran is on his way to the Texas Rangers. This move solidifies the fact that the Yankees are sellers at this years trade deadline.

Beltran joins Aroldis Chapman, and Andrew Miller as pieces the Yankees have moved before the deadline.

Carlos Beltran is a 9-time All-Star and is having another good year. He is batting .304 with 22 home runs and 64 RBI’s in 99 games this season. The aging outfielder will likely see a lot of DH at-bats mixed with some starts in the outfield.

Coming back to the Yankees is minor league pitcher Dillon Tate. He was the 4th overall pick in the 2015 MLB draft but has not had much success in the minors.

Tate is 3-3 with a 5.12 ERA in Single-A this season. His struggles as a starter may suggest that the Yankees could eventually move him to the bullpen in order to get him to the majors.

Along with Dillon Tate, the Yankees will also receive minor league pitchers Eric Swanson and Nick Green.

This trade helps the Rangers add another power bat to their lineup. It also helps the Yankees add young talent to their farm system for the future.
