Possible New Record Break for IWGP Title

The current reigning IWGP Champion Kazuchika Okada is looking to have a record break with the title. Reports show that as of September 6, he was at 443 days. The record currently is 489 days, in which Shinya Hashimoto held from 1996-97. October 23, Okada will pass this record, if he retains the title.

Record Break

There will be no record breaking moment for Kazuchika Okada, if he doesn’t beat Evil at King of Pro Wrestling on October 9th. Okada holds the most days of total reign. The current total is 1,239 on four total reigns. He just passed Keiji Muto at 1,238 for second place. First place is held by Hiroshi Tanahashi in which that is 1,358 days; meaning that is seven regins total.

Kazuchika Okada could possibly break Tanahashi’s in just four reigns total. The only way it would be broken is to have a successful win over Evil and by going into the Tokyo Dome; and win it by one. This is where he will face Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Championship. Just a fun fact too, remember he is only 29 years old. In that matter there is going to be a long history; of record breaking history for this guy. By the time his career ends, he should be very successful. However, the only think that can stop this guy, if he ends up with a career ending injury. Let’s hope that never happens.

Writer’s Thoughts

Kazuchika Okada has a big successful career ahead of him. Furthermore, to more possible record breaking is still in his future. I am a person that likes the possible record breaking title reigns, it makes the person strong. However, I don’t like the fact, that once somebody breaks a record, they seem to bury them. I am hoping that’s not the case with Okada. What are your thoughts? Do you think he will keep breaking records? Feel free to comment below and let us know what you think.
