John Cena Cast in New Transformers Movie

16-time world champion? Check. Dating Nikki Bella? Check. Face of a company? Check. Hollywood movie star? Check. Looks like all is well for WWE superstar, John Cena. Announced on Sunday, Cena confirmed he will be cast as a lead in the new Transformers movie spin-off, Bumblebee. The movie also began filming on the same day as the confirmation.

Additionally, Cena is cast along with female lead, Hailee Steinfeld. The story will feature the lovable yellow autobot. Although not much is known about the movie’s plot, the film is said to be set in the 1980s. This is the era the cartoon series stemmed from as well.

Nevertheless, the leaked synopsis seems quite simple. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be set around 1987. To summarize, Bumblebee finds refugee in a junkyard. Charlie (Steinfeld) is about eighteen years old. She is trying to find her place in the world. Somehow, she finds the battered vehicle in the remnants of trash. Pulling him from the wreckage, she revives the car. She quickly discovers the robot isn’t an ordinary yellow VW bug.

The movie project is the first spinoff in what the studio hopes will be an entire Transformers Cinematic Universe.  And why not? The franchise has been on fire.  The other Transformers movies have generated 3.7 billion dollars worldwide.

The movie is set to release December 21, 2018.

But what does this mean for John Cena in the wrestling world? After all, he has hinted he’s ready to go to part-time (here’s looking at you, Dwayne Johnson!)  As a result, it actually looks like his 17th world-title reign will have to wait.

What do you think will happen to Cena? And, are you looking forward to this spin-off? Let us know in the comments below!
