Cody Rhodes Signs Exclusive Contract with Ring of Honor

If there are any Stardust fans out there, I’m afraid we’ve got some bad news.  Although he left the WWE in May of 2016, fans have held on to hope that he’d return to the company eventually. Unfortunately, the former WWE star and son of WWE Legend, Dusty Rhodes, will absolutely not be returning to the WWE. At least, not anytime soon. News broke that Ring of Honor World Champion, Cody Rhodes, has signed an exclusive contract with the company. This contract will keep the champ with the company for the next few years.

ROH reported that Cody (his current ring name in ROH) signed the paperwork over the weekend during tapings in  Las Vegas. However, those shows will not air until October.

Technically, prior to this contract, Cody was considered a “free agent.” He was able to compete in many other North American promotions such as Impact and APW. Additionally, he has been able to wrestle internationally with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

In a statement regarding his current business move, Cody said the following:

“I grew up in this business, I’ve seen its peaks and valleys…I know we are entering an unprecedented time in pro wrestling and sports entertainment. It’s time to put my flag in the sand.”

Cody also praised Ring of Honor officials:

“Joe Koff and his team put together such a generous offer…with some non-wrestling projects on the horizon that I hope to announce soon, and the potential of starting a family down the road…it was a perfect fit. Myself, Marty Scurll, Hangman Page, Matt and Nick Jackson…it’s the dream team…like the 1992 dream team. I have several goals in mind for myself and for ROH and I can’t wait to get started.”
