Dean Ambrose Wasn’t Ready for Babyface

Hesitation was a big factor for the Lunatic Fringe. Apparently, he wasn’t ready to become a fan favorite. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns were featured on the most recent edition of Table for 3 on the WWE Network. During the discussion, Ambrose explained that he wasn’t ready to be a babyface after The Shield was destroyed in 2014.

Who is Dean Ambrose?

Dean Ambrose made his WWE debut in 2012 Survivor Series as part of The Shield. Furthermore, that wasn’t the original debut plan. Wrestlemania of that same year, the WWE was going to push Ambrose through to the main roster by feuding with Mick Foley. WWE had the angle and everything, but was changed because Foley wasn’t cleared to wrestle. Ambrose has been a one-time United States champion, which holds the longest reign underneath the WWE banner. He is also a two-time Intercontinental champion, and one-time WWE World Heavyweight champion.

BabyFace Turn

Dean Ambrose wasn’t prepared to have the WWE Universe like him, nor did he honestly didn’t think they would like him. He received the reaction from the crowd he wasn’t excepting. He was able to run as a successful babyface. Many people figured Ambrose was the one who would turn on the Shield. Which, making Rollins turn instead, was a good surprise. Ambrose expressed his fear in being a babyface with this quote:

“I was always kinda trying to make it like I’m kinda the a**hole here. One day everybody’s gonna say, I know that he’s the a**hole. I was always trying to plant little seeds in everybody’s head. And then all of a sudden, it was oh! If nobody likes me, then this isn’t going to work very well. It’s like I don’t really know how to do that. So I went: I’m just gonna do nothing, and not try at all.

…I’m  going to wear the same jeans that I’m coming to the building with. I will not have an entrance, I’m not gonna do anything cool. I’m just gonna come to the ring, and start fighting, and get beat up a lot.”

Dean Ambrose Now!

Over the years, Ambrose has been compared to Stone Cold Steve Austin and Rowdy Roddy Piper, and the WWE Universe took him the right way. Ambrose is currently half of the Raw Tag Team champions alongside Seth Rollins. Recently, Ambrose has joined forces with Rollins and Roman Reigns to rebuild The Shield. Their place in Survivor Series is in the air. However, depending on Roman Reigns’ health, Ambrose could end teaming up with Rollins and Reigns on the Raw Team. The Shield would also be teammates with Kurt Angle and Braun Storman. Survivor Series is in Houston, Texas on November 19th.

Writer’s Thoughts

In my opinion, Dean Ambrose is a good wrestler. And, he can indeed pull off a face or heel character. However, his lunatic fringe side does well with heel side. I had the opportunity to meet him in real life, and he’s just as crazy as his character. He’s really good with fans, especially little kids.

What do you think the future of Dean Ambrose is? Will we see another heel turn soon? What is the future for The Shield? Please comment below and let us know what you think!
