The Club Challenges The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express

On September 26th, current WWE Raw superstar, Karl Anderson challenged 2017 WWE Hall of Famers to a match. This was none other than The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express tag team. Karl Anderson tagged his fellow The Club tag team partner on Twitter that day, when he provoked Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton.

Luke Gallows responded to his partner’s request.

That same day, Robert Gibson accepted the challenge.

The following day, Ricky Morton accepted the challenge.

Morton is referencing to the former WWE Raw Tag Team Champion‘s characters that they play in one of WWE’s many projects, Southpaw Regional Wrestling. There are two seasons so far and it’s a (realistic) fictional wrestling promotion based in the 1980s.

In the SRW episodes, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows play Chad 2 Badd and Tex Ferguson as Tex2Badd. A stereotypical heel/villainous tag team in the 1980s from “Greasy” Oklahoma.

Due to the Morton/Gibson’s responses and WWE creating an article on their website about this feud; a match between the teams will likely take place at Starrcade.

The Circumstances

The only problem is that Starrcade is a SmackDown-branded event and The Club are Raw-branded superstars. However, it wouldn’t be the first time an “invasion” from another brand occurred on an exclusive pay-per-view since the 2016 WWE Draft.

Last April at WWE’s Raw-exclusive Payback, the event featured two inter-brand matches.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express are former four-time NWA/WCW World Tag Team Champions. They are also known for their short stint in the WWE of 1998. They have wrestled for GFW/Impact Wrestling in 2003 and 2016 against The Hardy Boyz last December.

The 1980s-beloved tag team was originally helped formed by Jerry “The King” Lawler.

The team was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Jim Cornette last March.

Starrcade is a revived WWE Network special that is booked on November 25th; six days after WWE Survivor Series.

Starrcade was also WCW’s version of WrestleMania.

Starrcade will be held in its birthplace, the Greensboro Coliseum of Greensboro, North Carolina.

Writer’s Thoughts

I hope this tag team match come’s into fruition.

More than that, I hope we really see Tex2Badd instead of The Club at Starrcade!
