Jinder Mahal to Face Two Opponents at SummerSlam?

In case you haven’t been paying attention, the biggest story coming out of WWE‘s blue brand; the Cinderella story of Jinder Mahal. Formerly a performer who was cast as a regular jobber, the “Modern day Maharajah” took his time in reinventing himself; the payoff being him becoming the WWE World Champion.

And while this has left the WWE Universe at times split, the overall reaction has been positive. So much so, that he has three “legitimate” victories over “The Viper” Randy Orton. The most recent at this past weekend’s “Battleground” Pay-Per-View, which also saw the PPV return of “Super Cena”, John Cena. Cena took on Rusev in a flag match, which saw him get the win over Rusev.

The victory, according to Smackdown general manager Daniel Bryan, put him in the running for contention for the world title. This past week’s Smackdown saw Cena confront Mahal, and stake a claim at a title shot against champ.

That, of course, brought out Bryan, who stated that while Smackdown was the land of opportunity, everyone, INCLUDING Cena, had to earn their spot. And that while Cena impressed at Battleground, he would have to face off against someone who impressed on that episode of SD.

For Cena to reach Mahal, he would have to go through Shinsuke Nakamura. It is no secret that the WWE have been trying to figure out a way to bring that dream match together for some time. In fact, last year, there were rumors that Cena and Nakamura would face off; likely at the rumored revival of the old WCW “Bash at the Beach” event.

Obviously, that didn’t happen.

However, the plan was not forgotten, just put on hold, and this week, fans will be treated to a possible, potential match of the year candidate. Many on the IWC already have Nakamura written off, as Cena is almost destined to break Ric Flair’s world title record.

However, according to a report by Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats, a leaked poster might actually make things more interesting. The poster has Mahal, Cena and Nakamura all featured on it, leading some to believe that both may challenge for the title at SummerSlam.

Debuting on the main roster,  Nakamura’s stay has left much to be desired. Many fans figured that he would be in the title picture at some point; considering that he is currently embroiled in a feud with the Money in the Bank winner, Baron Corbin.

If the WWE were to move Nakamura into the title picture; the best bet would be an interference by Corbin during their match. It could signal the end of the Corbin/Nakamura feud for the time being, and allow Shinsuke to move up the ladder.

A three-way for the WWE World Title in Brooklyn? Should the rumor hold true, it’s going to be a wild night in Brooklyn.
