Rich Swann and WWE Decide to Part Ways

The WWE’s Cruiserweight Division has seen some brighter days. Things have been tough for the division. We’ve witnessed all the problems Enzo Amore caused, right down to Neville’s departure. We’ve seen Austin Aries bow out before really hitting his stride. Now, Rich Swann is the next to go.

Back in December of 2016, Rich Swann was arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery and false imprisonment. Because of that, he was suspended from the WWE indefinitely. We haven’t seen him on 205 Live since. He was, however, cleared of all charges due to lack of evidence.

Then, on Thursday, February 15, the WWE released a statement in regards to Swann. They stated that the WWE and Rich Swann have mutually agreed to part ways. Unfortunately, the WWE did not expand on their initial statement. Therefore, it’s uncertain if Swann will be heading to another company right away. They did wish him well on his future endeavors, something that they did not do for Amore.

The Baltimore-native Swann is only 27 years old, so it’s unlikely he will be finished for good. He built a large fan base and exciting character during his time with 205 Live. Rich also won the Cruiserweight Championship once from The Brian Kendrick in November of 2016. Prior to working with the WWE, Swann was popular on the independent circuit.

Rich Swann won’t be taking much time off following his departure from the WWE. In fact, he’s already slated to be at the Big Event in Queens, New York, on March 10th. There, Swann will be signing autographs and doing photo ops at the convention.

How do you think the Cruiserweight Division is shaping out, despite all these heavy blows to the roster? Do you think it’ll ever generate the interest the WWE hoped for? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
