Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold Steve Austin will be making a historic return to the company in 2018. The Rattlesnake will be among a host of WWE Legends returning for the 25th anniversary of Raw on January 22nd. As huge attitude era fans, we are so excited for his appearance. However, it’s going be for a promo and a stunner to some unlucky jobber.

History of the Toughest SOB in WWE

Many WWE fans fell in love with the company during the Attitude Era. To those fans, Austin represents the glory years of professional wrestling. Additionally, his long-running feud with Vince McMahon became arguably the greatest storyline of all time. The duo excelled in the program and helped the Rattlesnake to be one of the biggest stars in the business.

The Bionic Redneck has been reduced to sporadic appearances in the ring in recent years since his official retirement in 2003, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t seen the occasional Stunner when he does rear his hell-raising head.

On Broken Skull Podcast

Last year, he revealed that he is inundated with requests for an official comeback, but a return to the grinding life of a pro-wrestler is not something that appeals to him.

On his podcast, he said:

“I’m 52, and I get these e-mails all the time saying ‘Steve, why don’t you make a comeback? So and so did it. Goldberg did it.’ Man I’m happy for all my friends who make comebacks, and Bill [Goldberg] going in and beating Brock Lesnar, that was awesome. So maybe they’re lining [up the rematch] for WrestleMania 33 down there in Orlando. But I ain’t making no comeback. I had someone cuss me out on an e-mail the other day saying that they hated my guts because I wouldn’t do a comeback. Man, I’m done!”

SCSA Will Appear Alongside Many Others

WWE announced Monday that The Rattlesnake will return for the first time since WrestleMania 32 in Dallas. During that event, he destroyed the League of Nations and hit Xavier Woods with a Stunner.

The company also confirmed that Austin will be appearing alongside other fellow legends. That list includes: The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, The Dudley Boyz, The New Age Outlaws, The Bellas, and APA.

Also, the legendary commentators Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler will be back in the booth.

Raw 25 will be split across two arenas, the Barclays Center and the Manhattan Center. That’s where the very first episode of Raw aired on January 11th, 1993. Even if you haven’t watched Raw since the Attitude Era days, Raw 25 is shaping up to be a can’t-miss event.

TSJ Writer’s Prediction:

I think the toughest SOB in the business will likely be in the Royal Rumble. Then again, this is just me hoping so. And, I wish he could have one last run as a champion and make a proper passing of the torch, perhaps with Samoa Joe or Finn Balor. But it’s a long shot since he has his hands full with his very popular reality series “The Broken Skull Challenge“.
