Vince McMahon Sells $100 Million in WWE Shares

Recently, it was announced that Vince McMahon had sold 3.34 million shares of WWE. This totals $100 million in sold shares. As noteworthy as this was, it’s what he did with the money that’s even more noteworthy.

The money McMahon sold in WWE shares is mostly being used to fund a company called Alpha Entertainment. This company was established by McMahon in an effort to invest in sports and entertainment opportunities.

This comes just days after McMahon filed trademarks for XFL and other trademarks related to the Xtreme Football League. This added fuel to the fire that McMahon was planning to bring back the XFL for a second try.

Hopefully, an announcement will be coming soon and we’ll know the reason for all these business decisions.

This would be awesome. But I’m also cautiously optimistic because of how poorly this ended last time WWE tried this. The last time they tried this, both WWE and NBC lost $35 million due to the lack of popularity. Also, with so much focus on player safety now, it could be difficult to get players to play an even more dangerous game if that is indeed the plan.

However, this could be different then the first time. WWE has a larger audience than they did back then. Popularity might not be as big of a problem as it was in the past. With all the controversy going on in the NFL as of late, people could be looking for an escape from that world.

This is all speculation until McMahon makes an official announcement in the coming weeks. If this does happen, hopefully they’ve learned from their past mistakes and are successful this time!
